Just a quick bit of news today. In a tersely worded email to members of the Senate Workforce Committee, PERS Executive Director Steve Rodeman and PERS Consulting Actuary Matt Larrabee told the Committee that they were "sick and tired of answering the same questions over and over again from ill-prepared Committee members.” They further noted that “… if the members would simply bother to read the Statutes and Administrative Rules, the answers to their questions would be self-evident and would save PERS time and money sending two highly compensated individuals to waste time with people who obviously don’t have the time and interest to do the job they’re getting PERS benefits to do”. They concluded with the admonition to “…find your own flunkies to do your work. We’re so done."

Wish it were true, but an April Fool I am not...... At least for now.... :)
I don't blame Mr. Rodeman . I knew more than the Legislative people. It was actually "scary" watching these five members and thinking PERs bills are in their hands. PERS reform was done in 2003. Nothing more to do except take pensions away from workers in 25-30 years.
I heard the next amendment to SB560 is funding to create a deadly pandemic that targets PERS Members....
Nicely done. :-) We need some levity. Sadly, after all of the prep work on this issue for more than six months, this has a bit of reality to it. One legislator is a 30 year Tier 1 member and has negotiated numerous labor contracts, who still asks basic questions that indicate a lack of fundamental knowledge that surprises me. One legislator doesn't understand that once something is earned it belongs to the employee even if he/she/they leave covered service. Another has worked on lowering benefits for nearly 15 years and doesn't seem to be able to understand what is not allowed by the court decisions. Some of the authors of other anti-PERS bills don't seem to have read anything about the issue. If I were a "technical expert" I'd be frustrated. All of this work takes time away from doing their jobs.Every attempt to "fix PERS' seems to make it worse.
Native60. But only Tier 1 retirees, and the remaining Tier 1 inactives. We'll call it the Monnes-Anderson ebola/influenza/West Nile virus.
You reeled me in, but about halfway through the light bulb went on as I realized today is President's Day.
